During the first office visit, your doctor will assess your baby in a variety of ways. The first office visit will differ between doctors, however, you can expect measurement of weight, length, temperature, pulse, and blood pressure to assess how your child’s status. A physical examination may be done to check for any abnormalities of the body or organ function and may be assisted by lab work done in the office. Common childhood illnesses such as ear and skin infection, asthma, and abdominal pain are promptly diagnosed and a treatment plan is prescribed.

Dr. Song: We do always have spots saved for the same day urgent sick patients. You could always call in the morning to get seen the same day. If not we usually can have you come in within 24 hours.
Natalia: If the child is sick, we want the patients to be comfortable calling us and scheduling the appointment to come here as opposed of going to the urgent care in the emergency room. We definitely make those spots available during the day for that. You can also schedule sick appointments for a future date as well, but we do have lots of availability for sick appointments.
Dr. Song: We do have after hours on Mondays and Tuesdays. On Saturday, we do open in the morning for the urgent sick patients.
Nick: We have after hours on-call service that is only managed by our physicians. When you call First Choice Pediatrics after hours, it’s one of our doctors. It’s with our EMR system. They have access to 100% of your patients’ records on their iPhone. It’s a technology that we have that’s a great service to the community.
