Cassia Portugal, M.D, FAAP

Born in Salvador - Bahia - Brazil. Graduated in Medical School in 1985 at the School of Medicine and Public Health in Salvador – Bahia – Brazil. She completed two pediatrics residency programs, one at The Fundacao Hospitalar do Distrito Federal in Brasilia – Brazil, and at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, US. She is Board Certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Portugal has almost 20 years of experience in different settings of pediatric care, from public health to intensive care. She is certified in neonatal resuscitation, pediatric advance life support, advanced and basic cardiac life support, among many others. She is the founder of First Choice Pediatrics, Inc. She is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish. Special areas of interest are childhood asthma, headaches and infectious diseases. She is a mother of three, the youngest only an infant. Among hobbies, she enjoys piano, movies, reading and travel.
