In recent times, the spread of infections has more or less been a major headliner in world events. Our daily lives were likely to have been affected by the outbreak of at least one infection over the past 4 years. Educating one’s self, as well as the community around us, on some methods and healthy habits on how to help prevent infections is more important than ever. Here are some helpful tips that have proven to make big differences in keeping children safe from infections:
- Maintain a clean personal hygiene! Methods such as washing hands regularly especially before and after handling food, bathing regularly, and brushing and flossing teeth are great examples.
- Do not share personal items. Personal items can be a source for infectious agents, these include common items like toothbrushes, razors, nail clippers etc.
- Vaccinations. Be sure your child(s) is up to date with all of the appropriate immunizations for their age group.
- Be cautious around animals. Never approach an animal that appears injured or sick. If your child is responsible for cleaning animal cages, litter boxes, or cleaning up the yard after a dog have him/her wear rubber gloves and always wash his/her hands when done.
